NYCC offers comprehensive cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnostic testing, and treatment services.
Our cardiovascular treatment centers are fully equipped with the most up to date technologies for cardiovascular evaluation and treatment. During your initial visit, you will meet with Dr. Sanjeev Palta for a comprehensive cardiovascular assessment. Depending on your health situation, additional cardiac diagnostic tests may be necessary to provide us with more detailed information about your heart function. At our office we provide the full range of diagnostic tests of the heart and the coronary arteries including echocardiograms, exercise and nuclear stress tests, and 24 hr. & extended heart monitoring. For patients with pacemakers or implanted cardioverter defibrillators (ICD), we also have an experienced electrophysiologist.
Besides the heart muscle and coronary vessels, we also may need to evaluate the health of other important blood vessels in the body with our state of the art vascular laboratory. We perform sonograms of the carotid artery to investigate potential blockages that can lead to a stroke. We also can evaluate the aortic artery for bulges that put one at risk for aneurisms. To assess the health of the arteries in the extremities we perform ankle-brachial index assessments as well as sonograms of peripheral blood vessel health.
In addition to supporting your heart health through medical treatment, we provide services to help you make lifestyle changes to improve the health of your heart. Our in-office registered dietitian specializes in weight and chronic disease management for heart health. Working in close collaboration with Dr. Palta, she provides intensive one-on-one nutritional counseling as well as body fat and metabolic rate testing to guide and support lasting heart healthy lifestyle changes.
Before undergoing most major surgeries, cardiac clearance is often required to ensure that one’s heart is healthy enough to undergo the stresses of surgery. At our practice, we provide timely pre-operative cardiac clearance, allowing you to avoid having to go through the long waits and multiple visits that clearance in the hospital setting often demands.
Should your cardiac assessment reveal significant coronary artery blockages, Dr. Palta performs coronary angiograms and stenting at both New York Methodist Hospital in Park Slope and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Bushwick. For patients with advanced heart disease who are not candidates for surgery, we are one of the few practices to offer non-invasive external counterpulsation therapy that can help to improve coronary circulation and reduce chest pain.
Our practice also provides comprehensive primary medical services for newborns, children, and adolescents. Our experienced board certified pediatrician and neonatologist, Dr. Anasuya Nagaraj, offers medical treatment as well as preventive treatment including physicals and vaccinations. And, our sister practice, New York Fertility Clinic, headed by reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Vidya Palta, is a full-service fertility treatment center.
