There is a lot of information available on the Web about heart disease and heart health. Unfortunately, not all information out there is reliable or accurate. Here are some trusted sites that contain reliable patient-friendly information on heart disease and lifestyle improvement.

American Heart Association (www.heart.org)
This is the premier organization promoting heart health in the U.S.  The site provides excellent heart related patient education, research updates, links, and an on-site information search.

American Academy of Family Physicians (www.familydoctor.org)
This site has patient-friendly information on a full range of health topics including plenty of resources on heart healthy living and good nutrition.

American College of Cardiology (www.cardiosmart.org)
Excellent site for all things cardiology including disease conditions, screening & diagnostics, heart healthy living, and a comprehensive listing of cardiologists.

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (www.eatright.org)
This site has a comprehensive listing of registered dietitians in the U.S. as well as lots of information on nutrition and weight management.

American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org)
This site provides comprehensive information on emerging diabetes research and treatment as well nutrition and lifestyle guidance and self-monitoring tools to help you effectively manage diabetes and heart health.

Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Eating Plan (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash/new_dash.pdf)
Here you can find the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s DASH diet plan proven to help lower blood pressure.  It includes detailed menus at different calorie levels along with heart healthy recipes and dietary tips for lowering blood pressure.

United States Department of Agriculture (www.choosemyplate.gov)
This is the main U.S. government site for Americans to get information on healthy diet.  It offers personalized menu plan information, a data base of the nutritional composition of foods, and plenty of information and handouts on healthy nutrition.

The Vascular Disease Foundation (https://vascularcures.org/) – This site offers a wealth of information on understanding and effectively preventing and managing both heart and vascular diseases.
